16 x 5.5 x 5 m blast room with roof slot for a Belgian filter manufacturer
Straaltechniek International supplied a special blast room to a Belgian manufacturer of carbon filters based on activated carbon. Special because of its dimensions, but above all because of the machine layout, which is fully tailored to the customer’s workshop.

The challenge
Activated carbon is stored in large silos that need to be cleaned from time to time: the old layers of paint are removed and the silo receives a new coating. A special blast room was needed for that first step.
The blast room was to cause as little disruption to the workshop as possible. The blasting area had to be 16 metres long, 5.5 metres wide and 5 metres high, the silos had to be brought in by crane and the working space had to be used optimally.
The solution
We arranged the machines as compactly as possible at the rear of the blast room. To move the silos, Straaltechniek International designed a closable, automatically operated slot along the full length of the roof. Two operators can blast simultaneously.
The blast room is equipped with our energy-efficient equipment, energy-saving LED lighting in the ceiling and an automatic system for the transport, cleaning and recycling of the blasting media.
