Pass-through blasting container for wheelsets in the railway sector
A young Belgian company, set up to maintain and repair the running gear of locomotives and wagons, needed a high-efficiency blasting installation as a result of its growth. Straaltechniek International developed a fully equipped pass-through blasting container.

The challenge
Railway equipment has to keep rolling. For the ultrasonic testing and repair of train running gear, the company built a new workshop in the Port of Antwerp area. Before the wheelsets are tested, they have to be blasted.
The solution
In the container, the blasting media is recycled as much as possible. Pneumatically driven scraper tracks and an elevator carry the used blasting media via a vibrating screen to the silo, where it is cleaned and ready for reuse.
The heart of the system is a BlastWizard® blast pot: a pot with very high efficiency for the most consistent blasting quality, user-friendly, safe and compliant with the European directives. Straaltechniek International supplies these pots with CE marking, as one of the few companies in the Netherlands and Belgium.
