The challenge
The customer supplies major truck brands worldwide. In its Swedish factory, extremely fragile soldered fixtures of only 3 mm are used to build cooling systems. Removing solder residue and moving these parts has to be done very carefully.
The old machine was not suitable: the blasting media it needed were too aggressive for the parts, maintenance costs were high and the work was physically heavy for the operator. One solution had to solve all of this.
The solution
Straaltechniek International developed a heavy-duty, low-noise machine that treats the parts easily with GH-type blasting media. Three GN wheels® significantly extend the life of the blast wheels and lower maintenance costs. An external control panel for the fully automatic machine solved the ergonomic problem.
The system was carefully tuned to reach the required blast quality without damaging the fragile parts, drawing on more than 40 years of collective experience.
Safety
Two safety zones at the front of the machine and a laser scanner keep people at a safe distance. As soon as someone enters a safety zone, the machine stops, and it resumes only when the zone is clear again.
