Fully controlled grit blasting machine for an aviation MRO
In aviation, a fully controlled blasting process is vital. For a Dutch MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) provider, Straaltechniek International developed a high-end grit blasting machine for the pre-treatment of engine components.
Key facts
- Sector
- Aviation (MRO)
- Client
- Dutch MRO with sites in 11 countries
- Installation
- High-end grit blasting machine
- Application
- Pre-treatment for plasma coating
- Result
- Virtually zero process variation
The client
With sites in 11 countries, this MRO provider is a major player in the maintenance of gas turbine engines. One of its specialisms is extending the service life of engines. To maintain that reputation, the company was looking for partners for innovative solutions.
The challenge
A plasma coating protects the metal surface and ensures a long service life. Before coating, oxides and other contaminants must be removed and the surface must be roughened.
The solution
For this step, Straaltechniek International developed a high-end grit blasting machine with a fully controlled blasting process. Repetitive processes are automated as far as possible.
The result
Quality is assured and process variation is virtually zero: the best, most consistent quality at the lowest cost.
